Re-homing Animals Over The Christmas Period

The RSPCA has issued the following policy with reference to re-homing animals over the Christmas period.

"As we rely on a network of volunteers to conduct our home visits, we often find that the speed with which we can get the home visits done slows down, as the demands of Christmas affect our volunteers too. Because of this, it may take a little longer for your adoption to be processed and we appreciate your patience.

Christmas is a busy and hectic time for most households. Unusual noise and activities, extra demands upon the new owners` time and the difficulties an animal may face when settling into a new home. Experience tells us it could end in tears, so we may not release new adoptions to homes before Christmas if it is best for all concerned.

However, we do understand that for some people the festive period is a calm, quiet time and every adoption is dealt with on an individual basis.

We urge everyone thinking of adopting a pet at Christmas to consider the long term commitment required to properly care for an animal. People should take into account whether they have the time and money to care for an animal 365 days of the year for the next 10 -20 years. Factors to consider include daily grooming, feeding, exercise and ongoing costs such as vet bills and registration fees.

If you are confident that a pet is the right addition to your home the RSPCA recommends visiting a rescue centre with all the family so they can pick out the pet which will be best suited to their particular life style. Pets are a lifelong commitment. Consider carefully before adopting a pet to ensure that this pet will be loved for life".

Tabby DSH, 8 years old, female.Beautiful Millie is a dainty cat who although shy initially, is very affectionate and friendly when she's approached quietly. She feels safest when she has a nice cosy place to hide and get her bearings. She is looking for a quiet home with an older family, as unfortunately she was quite nervous of the children in her previous home. She is looking forward to being in a new home with and will be a lovely companion for someone.
Ginger Tabby domestic short haired 11 years old.Jasper is a true gentleman in every sense of the word. With his gorgeous ginger coat and handsome face and loving calm nature he is a pleasure to have around. He loves to be picked up and cuddled and fussed and he also likes to have a chat too. He would suit a calm environment that's not too hectic as he likes a cosy lap to sit on.
Tortie and white DSH, female, 10 years old approx.Cookie is a little sweetheart with a heart of gold. She loves nothing more than a snuggle on your lap and a lovely fuss. She is very affectionate and sweet natured. She is looking for a special someone to give her the love and care she so deserves. Cookie would like to be the only pet of the household so she can lap up all the attention. Cookie is currently in a foster home, so cannot be viewed at the cattery. Please speak to a member of staff if you are interested in adopting this beautiful little cat.
Black DSH female, 5 years old.Hettie is a very beautiful girl with her stunning jet black coat. She can be very affectionate and sociable, rubbing round your legs and purring. She does sometimes prefer to get away from it all, but soon comes back to you for more fuss. We feel she'll be much more relaxed and contented in a home environment and will be a lovely companion. She is looking for an older family to settle down with. She would like to be the only pet so she can be number one in your life.
