Buy a cocktail and help black cats!

October is National Black Cat Month and local bars will be selling Black Cat Cocktails to help raise awareness and funds for Bluebell Ridge Cat Rehoming Centre.

Next month is about raising awareness of the beautiful black cats in animal shelters that have to wait longer to be adopted due to the colour of their fur. There are many superstitions associated with black cats which stops some people from adopting them.

The Black Cat cocktail, which contains cherry brandy, coke, cranberry juice and vodka, will be available to buy from Monday 1st October until Wednesday 31st from:

The Drift In Cafe Bar
91-92 Queens Road, Hastings TN34 1RL

Tin Tins
21 Robertson Street, Hastings TN34 1HL

The Stag Inn
14 All Saints Street, Hastings TN34 3BJ

All venues will be giving a donation for each Black Cat cocktail sale to Bluebell Ridge who are owned and operated by the Sussex East and Hastings Branch of the RSPCA. The Branch is a separate charity within the national body and are entirely self-funded, which means that each year they have to raise over £150,000 to continue with their vital work.

Nikki Hawes at Bluebell Ridge said, "There are many times when our black cats have been overlooked purely because of their colour. All cats deserve the chance of a better life and we are really grateful to all of the venues that are supporting our work."

Tabby domestic short haired female, 10 years old approx.Molly is a dear little lady who is very affectionate and loves to sit on you lap and snuggle with you. She has come a long way since her arrival at the cattery after being a stray for some years. A kind lady had taken her in but was unable to look after her any more. She is now looking for a fresh start with an older family who can give her her another chance at finding love and companionship. She would like to be an only pet so she can lap up all the attention.Molly is currently with a foster carer. She is doing very well in her foster home. She is chatty and loving. Could you offer our beloved Molly her forever home? The cattery staff will be happy to give you more information about her.
Tortie DSH female, 10 years old.Pepsi is a gentle girl who really enjoys your company. She is cheeky, playful and affectionate, rolled into one. She is looking for a loving new family to take her into their hearts. She will be a gorgeous companion, happy to lounge around with you on lazy days, and enjoying entertaining you with her games. She would like a home as the only cat of the household, so she can relax and lap up all the attention.
Black and White domestic short haired female, 12 years old approx.Bertha is a kind natured girl and will make a lovable companion. Before being rescued Bertha lived as a stray and is now enjoying the feeling of being loved and cared for, but would like even more to add a forever home into the mix. She has improved massively since her arrival with us; she has gone from a very frightened girl to one who loves being with us and getting attention and fuss in her pod. She needs to be the only pet, in a quiet home. Whoever invites her into their heart will be rewarded with a very loving and loyal companion.
