Buy a cocktail and help black cats!

October is National Black Cat Month and local bars will be selling Black Cat Cocktails to help raise awareness and funds for Bluebell Ridge Cat Rehoming Centre.

Next month is about raising awareness of the beautiful black cats in animal shelters that have to wait longer to be adopted due to the colour of their fur. There are many superstitions associated with black cats which stops some people from adopting them.

The Black Cat cocktail, which contains cherry brandy, coke, cranberry juice and vodka, will be available to buy from Sunday 1st October until Tuesday 31st from:

All venues will be giving a donation for each Black Cat cocktail sale to Bluebell Ridge who are owned and operated by the Sussex East and Hastings branch of the RSPCA. The branch is a separate charity within the national body and are entirely self-financing, which means that each year they have to raise over £150,000 to continue their vital work.

Nikki Hawes, Income Generation and Marketing Officer for Bluebell Ridge said: "There are many times when our black cats have been overlooked purely because of their colour. All cats deserve the chance of a better life and we are really grateful to all of the venues that are supporting our work."

Black DSH male, 3 years old. Peter has a lot of character and he has been through the wars a bit in his previous life and needs some after care. He has been moved from place to place and would really love to find a caring home where he can be loved and looked after.
DSH Black female, 5-6 years old. Hettie is a very beautiful girl with a stunning jet-black coat.  Hettie can be affectionate and playful and also has an independent side. She would suit a home where she can choose the comfort of indoors or explore the outdoors in a large garden. Hettie would like an older family with no young children or other pets, that will give her the time and care that she needs to adapt to her new environment.  She is very sensitive to sudden movements and noise within the home, so would need a quiet and calm home. If you feel that you could give Hettie a forever home come and visit her.
Black DSH, male, 4 years old approx. Can you give Donald a forever home? He came into the cattery very shy and unsure. He has now turned into a lovely friendly affectionate boy, who loves to head bump with pure affection. Donald will make a great companion who would be better suited to an older family not the very young. Come and visit him.
Tabby shorthaired 1 year old.Savannah is a lovely looking cat who is very active and inquisitive. She is a friendly girl who also likes to have her own freedom. Would be better suited to an older family without young children.
